OUR RETREAT CENTER
WHAT TO EXPECT
A gentle pause from the pace of everyday life. The Deep Dive Retreat in the beautiful Oliva in Spain is designed to help you slow down, reconnect, and return to yourself—through guided experiences, restorative space, and time to simply be. Lead by Caramia Tambornino.
Enjoy six days of rest, movement, and connection in Oliva, Spain — a sun-soaked town on the Costa Blanca where the Mediterranean mountains meet the sea. After leading an unforgettable international retreat in Bali, Caramia is bringing her warm, grounded approach to breathwork and yoga to Spain. We'll gather at Suniai Oliva, a retreat sanctuary tucked among citrus and olive groves, with gardens, a pool, and a light-filled yogashala made for slowing down. Expect mornings of movement, long, unhurried meals shared together, and quiet afternoons to wander nearby white-sand beaches or simply do nothing at all. Whether you've followed Caramia's classes for years or are joining for the first time, this is an invitation to step away from routine and come home to yourself — in one of the most beautiful corners of Spain. Come exhale.
MEET YOUR TEACHER & HOST
CARAMIA TAMBORNINO
Caramia began practicing yoga in 1978 in Minnesota, at Shanti House, a home for homeless and recovering teens. This physically and mentally challenging experience saved her life, and lit the yoga path to living a life filled with stability and acceptance.
Throughout her adult life, she felt compelled to establish real connections and give back. First, serving as a VP of sales training in cosmetics which later led to becoming a Wellness Advocate and Director of Marketing in San Francisco for Brown and Toland, a prestigious Bay Area Medical Services organization.
Due to a demanding career life, along with parenting two children (and a failing marriage), her yoga practice slipped to the side and she hit the hard wall of burnout and emotional fatigue. In 2008, with an urgent need to heal and transform, coupled with a burning desire to leave the “health care” industry and help those in need of REAL health care, she made a courageous decision to return home.....to her mat and enrolled in a yoga teaching training program. With an emphasis on each person's intimate journey, Caramia currently leads Yoga Teacher Trainings, yoga retreats, workshops and private clients. Her upbeat classes are vinyasa based, meditative, breath centric, and include anatomical alignment, and injury management prevention.

ABOUT OLIVA
Spanish Beaches & Mountains
Oliva is a laid-back coastal town on Spain's Costa Blanca, about 75 kilometers south of Valencia, prized for its uncrowded, blue-flag beaches stretching some 7 kilometers along the Mediterranean, its backdrop of olive and orange groves, and a Mediterranean-subtropical climate that delivers over 230 days of sunshine a year. Beyond the beach, the town holds onto its old-world character with the 16th-century Santa Anna Castle, the historic churches of Sant Roc and Santa Maria la Major, and a slower, more local rhythm than Spain's more touristy coastal resorts. It's in this setting that our retreat takes place at Suniai Oliva, a retreat center nestled between the mountains and the sea.
Enjoy a peaceful stroll along the beach or take a hike in the mountains, all just a short distance from your room.
For those who wish to explore the countryside, Sunai Oliva offers a limited number of bicycles and electric bicycles. Ride through the scenic landscapes, breathe in the fresh air, and immerse yourself in the natural beauty that surrounds our retreat.
HOW TO GET THERE
San Franscisco Airport → European hub: Book a long-haul flight from SFO to a major connecting city — Madrid (MAD), Barcelona (BCN), London (LHR), Paris (CDG), or Amsterdam (AMS) are the typical options, with Madrid or Barcelona usually giving the smoothest onward connection into Spain. Flight time is roughly 10.5–12 hours depending on the hub.
Layover: Plan for at least 2 hours of connection time, more if you're clearing immigration/customs at your first EU stop (this happens at your first Schengen-area airport, so build in extra buffer if that's Madrid or Barcelona).
Hub → Valencia (VLC): Take a short connecting flight into Valencia, the nearest major airport to Oliva. This leg is typically 1–1.5 hours.
Valencia airport → Oliva: From VLC, it's about a 65–80 km / roughly 1-hour transfer south to Oliva. Options include:
A taxi from the airport
A rental car, if you'd like flexibility to explore the region before or after
Alternative: Alicante (ALC) is a secondary airport option if fares or timing work out better — it's a similar distance from Oliva, approached from the south instead of the north.
